Adventurous Ski Experiences with Vegard Bjerkreim Nilsen and his Team

Come and join us in a skiing course and training camps in the beautiful northern Norway.

Vegard Bjerkreim Nilsen (born September 2, 1993) is a Norwegian former competitive cross-country skier who has competed in the World Cup in cross-country skiing and has won gold in the classic sprint at the junior Norwegian Championships.

So, it’s not «just anyone» that you’re going on a skiing adventure with.

Here we set up training camps for the active top athlete to those with no skiing experience.

The course will teach the participants to manage skiing on a basic level, in addition to skiing, there will be spectacular nature, and at the end of the course there will be a ski race.

Day 1 – Skiing course for beginners – We welcome you

We will pick you up at the airport and transport you to the hotel where you will check in.

We will meet in a private room at the hotel to get to know each other over food and drinks before we go over the days ahead, like try out the skiing gear at the hotel and make sure everything fits.

Day 2 – Finding the right balance

Try on the skis for the first time. The participants will learn how to stop, turn and walk with skis on their feet. Finding the balance on two skis and using the poles are key factors.

Lunch will be served during the activity.

Evening activity: Easy hike to “Gangsåstoppen” enjoying the amazing view over the city.

Day 3 – Introduction to classic techniques and snowshoe wandering

Transport to Kilbotn. Continuing to work on the different techniques with lunch at site.

2hr course before lunch, 1hr lunch and 2hr course after lunch.

We will focus on skiing techniques up, as well as down a hill. There will also be an introduction to the different techniques within classic skiing.

Evening activity: After dinner, a snowshoe wandering to Keipen or Litjehornet at Aunfjellet. A quite easy walk, with a spectacular view.

If the weather is clear, we hopefully get to see the northern lights. Serving toddy or other hot/cold drinks at the top.

Day 4 – the first “real” ski trip

Transport to Kvæfjordeidet. Continuing to practice the classic skiing techniques with a lovely mountain view surrounding the tracks. The route will be adjusted to the level of the group.

The trip will be 5-6 hrs with a lunch stop. If we reach the top, the group will be rewarded with a beautiful sight if the weather is in our favor. It will be necessary to bring a pair of extra wool shirts and a warm jacket.

We will take Sea sauna in the evening. Do you have the courage to take a swim in the arctic ocean?

Day 5 – Skiing/snowshoeing and ice fishing.

Skiing or snowshoeing to a fishing location, with the possibility to try Ice fishing, a popular winter tradition in Norway.

If the weather allows us to, we can spend several hours trying to catch the “Røya» and enjoy a nice lunch with hot chocolate.

For dinner we can eat the fish we hopefully catch during the day.

Day 6 – Race day and high pulse

Race day! Time for the participants to use the tips and tricks they have learned during the previous days and do their very best in a 5-10 km competition/race in Kilbotn.

This is an excellent opportunity to feel how it’s like to be “born with skis on their feet” like we says here in Norway.

So! will you come back and try out Reistadløpet in April the 1st (30-50km)?
