Meet the Sami and Their Reindeer
Greet Sami hosts dressed in traditional Sami clothes and get up close with their reindeer. If the reindeer are willing, you can feed or even touch them. For a bit of fun, try your hand at lassoing reindeer antlers!
Lavvo Campfire and Sami Stories
Gather in a cozy lavvo (Sami tent), sitting on reindeer skins around a crackling fire. Here, you’ll hear fascinating stories about Sami culture and history while savoring the unique flavors of dried and smoked reindeer meat.
Optional Winter Sleigh Ride
In the winter, and if conditions allow, you can purchase a reindeer sleigh ride for a truly magical Arctic experience. This depends on the weather, snow conditions, and the reindeer’s health and mood that day.
Wildlife and Nature
Nature is unpredictable, but with luck, you may spot eagles soaring above, orcas gliding through the nearby sea, or harbor seals swimming along the coast. While these sightings are not guaranteed, they add an element of excitement to the journey.
Ebbestua Farm Visit
On the way back, we’ll stop at Ebbestua, a charming farmstead dating back to 1854. Enjoy a warm cup of cocoa, coffee, or tea with traditional klappekake (a local pastry). Explore the farm’s cozy café, where all food is homemade using local ingredients, and browse the store for unique, locally produced souvenirs and art.
In August, Ebbestua hosts an annual farm market.
In November and December, the farm transforms into a magical Christmas house, featuring festive decorations and seasonal treats like Christmas porridge and cakes.
